In her first visit to India as France’s Foreign minister, Catherine Colonna will be on a three-day visit from Tuesday, during which she will meet PM Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval and discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
As part of her official visit from September 13-15, Colonna will also travel to Mumbai for engagements with industry leaders and site visits on Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday. On Wednesday, Colonna is scheduled to meet Modi. She will hold talks with Jaishankar the same day “on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest”, the MEA stated. India and France have a long-standing strategic partnership, strengthened by regular high-level consultations and growing convergence in various areas, it said. She will meet Doval for “discussions on regional and global security issues, strengthened defence cooperation, as well as implementation of France’s counter-terrorism cooperation with India”, the French embassy said in a statement.
