Egypt remains committed to enhance cooperation with Maldives


The government of Egypt remains committed to enhance cooperation in fields of mutual interests with Maldives, says the Egyptian Ambassador Hussain Al Saharty.

Ambassador Al Saharty paid a farewell call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at the President’s Office on Monday morning.

During the call, President Solih applauded the impressive work the Egyptian Ambassador did to further solidify the relationship between both countries and wished him well in his future endeavors. He thanked the Egyptian Ambassador for his continued support and assistance extended to Maldives over the years.

The Egyptian Ambassador commended the Solih administration for the hospitality and assistance displayed in enhancing the bilateral relations between Maldives and Egypt.

The president also conveyed greetings and best wishes to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during the call.

President Solih shed light on the scholarship opportunities awarded to Maldivian students from Al-Azhar University and the assistance provided to Maldives in the human resource front by the government of Egypt.

The Maldivian president went on to state that the high-level political consultation that took place in 2019 had further solidified the bilateral relations between Maldives and Egypt.

Discussions during the meeting also revolved around efforts to improve people-to-people contact, collaboration in the international arena on mutual interests especially in relevance to protecting the Islamic faith and work relating to Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and expanding cooperation in trade and business between both countries.
