Covid-19: Bangladesh reports highest cases in 40 days, most deaths in 30 days



The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, according to the government, on Tuesday rose to 815,282 as 2,322 more cases were reported, after testing 19,165 samples, including rapid antigen tests, in the last 24 hours.

During that time 44 Covid-19 patients died, raising the total deaths in the country to 12,913, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am was 12.12 per cent, while the overall rate of detection of infected cases in Bangladesh as of Tuesday stands at 13.40 per cent.


Earlier, on 29 April, the health directorate reported 2,341 new cases in 24 hours while on 9 May it reported 56 deaths in the previous 24 hours.

The health directorate today said a total of 2,062 people were recovered from the highly infectious disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total recovery to 755,302.
