Bangladesh records highest single-day deaths of 258 from COVID-19

Bangladesh on Tuesday recorded the highest single-day deaths of 258 from the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the toll to 19,779, said the country's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The official data showed 14,925 more new cases were recorded, taking the national tally to 1,194,752.

A total of 52,478 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Tuesday across the country.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 1,022,414, including 12,439 new recoveries on Tuesday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.66 percent and the current recovery rate fell to 85.58 percent.

The confirmed cases have been rising in Bangladesh since last month.
