Bangladesh grants duty-free access to 16 products of Bhutan

A total of 16 Bhutanese products now have new duty-free access in Bangladesh.

The Finance Ministry's Internal Resources Division (IRD) published an order in this regard on Monday.

Bangladesh granted this facility to Bhutan under the 2020 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).

The 16 products that was provided with duty-free facilities include milk, natural honey, wheat or meslin flour, jam, fruit jelly, marmalade, cement clinker, portland cement, soap, particle board, ferro silicon, iron or non-alloy steel of bars, rods; mineral water, wheat husk and wooden furniture etc.

According to the order, no customs duty or tax will be levied on the import of these 16 products from Bhutan.

According to the terms of the PTA, 100 products of Bangladesh will get duty-free benefits in Bhutan and 34 products of Bhutan in Bangladesh.

However, since 2010, Bangladesh has been providing duty-free market facilities to Bhutan for 18 products while 90 products of Bangladesh are getting duty free market facility in Bhutan.
