Bangladesh: Dengue death count rises to 95


Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported a new dengue fever fatality during the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative death toll in 2021 to 95 in the country.

early 92 percent of the deaths (87) were reported from the capital city of Dhaka.

Concerning dengue cases, 157 new dengue cases were recorded, in which 78 percent, or 122 cases were reported in Dhaka over the course of 24 hours.

Since January, some 24,277 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue in the country.

September accounted for the highest hospitalized dengue patients with 7,841 reported cases, followed by August with 7,698 reported cases. October saw a decrease in cases with 5,604.

Bangladesh reported the first dengue fever cases in 2000 and in 2019 saw the largest outbreak–101,354 dengue cases and 179 deaths.
