Agra court sets aside order on Kashmir youths

AGRA: The additional district and sessions judge of Agra has set aside the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court’s decision of taking cognisance of the chargesheet filed by Agra police against three Kashmiri students, on the grounds that it was filed without seeking sanction from the state or Centre, reports Anuja Jaiswal. The students were booked under sedition laws for allegedly cheering for Pakistan against India in a T-20 World Cup cricket match last year on social media. The additional district and sessions court directed the cou- rt concerned to pass the cognisance order only after the prosecutor produces an “approval for prosecution” by the state government or the Centre.
